The Meadow Fresh NZ Café of the Year is back again for another year
We are thrilled to announce Meadow Fresh as our new naming rights sponsor, along with our new family of category sponsors – without them this competition wouldn't be possible. It is brilliant to see Goodman Fielder increasing their support to the programme, in addition to new partners, Unilever Food Solutions and Hellers – a stellar line-up of sponsors.
“Goodman Fielder is one of New Zealand’s leading food companies and boasts some of New Zealand’s best-loved brands. We are committed to the hospitality trade channel and view our café customers as crucially important to our business. But also in a wider sense we acknowledge the important role cafés play in New Zealand’s culture and lifestyle. This is why we are proud to support the Meadow Fresh NZ Café of the Year and have increased our commitment to the programme this year”
“Unilever Food Solutions is thrilled to be working within the dynamic NZ café industry, to showcase how local gems can go up against slick metro hubs in one competition that includes so many different types of venues. The café channel is so diverse, and getting a better understanding of how owners and chefs go about running their business is of huge importance to us as a company”
“Hellers recognises the importance and celebrates the role cafés play in the New Zealand’s food and hospitality category. We are honoured to sponsor the Classic Kiwi category. Our ambition is to expand our market share, increase our brand presence and get our great tasting products on to your menus”

The 2016 NZ Café of the Year Supreme Winner, The Bespoke Kitchen, Queenstown, co-owner Rae Ellis said “Winning the 2016 Café of the Year award was a huge boost to our business and gave us an overnight injection of customers coming to our new premises, that still exists today. I would highly recommend other café operators enter this competition. It helped us to identify the elements in our operations that are unique and important to us, encouraged us to operate at the highest level possible then gave us a greater sense of belief in our products and operations. It’s a great experience which had huge rewards to us. The prizes were a delight too!”
